James, known as J.P., was born on October 13th, 1859 in Sinclair, AL.  J.P.'s father was James Pinckney Wood and his mother was Mariah Netherland Rogan.  His paternal grandparents were George Wood and Susannah Green; his maternal grandparents were Judge James Rogan and Sarah Netherland.  He had four sisters named Lollie, Catherine, Mary and Lulu.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Drowning, at the age of 52 on October 27th, 1911 in Near Amarillo, TX.  His burial was on October 29th, 1911 in Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas.1
