James (J.P.) Pinckney Wood
James, known as J.P., was born on October 13th, 1859 in
Sinclair, AL. He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Drowning, at the age of 52 on October 27th, 1911 in
Near Amarillo, TX. His burial was on October 29th, 1911 in
Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas.

- Waco Times_Herald (10/29/1911) --- Dr. P. Wood Drowned in Lake near Amarillo - The remains of Dr. Pinckney Wood, who drowned Friday night near Amarillo, are to arrive in Waco today and be taken to the residence of a son-in-law, T. Brooks Pearson, 1621 West Ave. The funeral will take place from Mr. Pearson's home at 4 this afternoon, Rev. J.G. Kendall officiating. Interment at Oakwood. The following pallbearers have been selected: Frank Allen; J. K. Rose; W. H. Jenkins, Sr; Dr. H. W. Smith; W. D. Williams; Dr. W. K. Clifton;Luke Moore, Sr.; Dr. O. I. Halbert.
Dr. Wood was alone at the time he was drowned. He was scheduled to be present at supper, arranged by a party hunting at the lake, at 6 o'clock Friday evening. When he failed to appear, his friends became alarmed, and search was instituted. The body was found in the lake at 8 o'clock yesterday morning. How he met his death will probably never be known.
For many years Dr. Wood was a resident of Waco, removing to Amarillo 8 or 10 years ago. While here [Waco] he practiced dentistry. He was proninent in Waco and very highly esteemed by many friends and acquaintances.
Besides his widow, who was visiting her daughter here [Ludie had just given birth on 10/24/1911 to her first child, Brooks Wood [Williford] Pearson, which was five days prior to this article] when the accident occurred, Dr. Wood is survived by one child, Mrs. T. Brooks [Ludie] Pearson, and to these the most sincere sympathy is tendered.
