Louisa County was created in 1742 from part of Hanover County. The County was named for Princess Louisa, the daughter of King George II and Queen Caroline of England.
"1774 David Wood came from Louisa County to Albermarle Co, VA and purchased land from David Watts on the west side of the South West Mountain, where he made his home. His wife was a Mary Watson of the Green Spring family. Their children were all born in Louisa Co., now known as Albermarle Co, VA and settled in Kentucky & Tennessee." Source: Wm. 1785 Albemarle Co, VA census has a David with 11 white; 1 dwelling; 6 other bldgs. On list next to him is Micajah Carr. David not in Albemarle in 1810 would have been about 73
