    HISTORY NOTES: Rev Willis S. JARRELL (Jerril):
    
    Rachel Williford's younger brother, John Williford, was an elected
    representative to the General Assembly of Georgia in 1851 - 52; again for
    1853 - 54.
    
    From what I have learned, I believe that Willis Jarrell and some of his
    Williford in-laws belonged to and attended, the Red Hill Christian Church
    which is a few miles north of Richland, GA, located in eastern central
    Stewart County.  As noted previously, Willis and Rachel's son, Willie Henry, who died on his sixteenth birthday, is buried there.
    
    Willis and Rachel's marriage record in Madison Co., GA is in Book A, page
    55.
    
    Willis was a fortunate drawer for lot 92, District 4, Coweta County, GA in
    the Land Lottery of 1827. He applied from District 166, Wilkes Co.
    
    William L. Was operator and owner of a general merchandise store in Richland for a long time.  He belonged to Smith Lodge, number 223, chartered 28 Oct 1858, located at Red Hill.
    
    The Matilda Jarrell who married Frank Astor (also referred to as Astor
    Franklin) Clements in Stewart Co on 20 Dec 1866 is believed to be Willis and Rachel's daughter, although she would have been 30 years old at the time. They moved to the Greenville, Hunt Co., TX area after 1871.  (History of Stewart County, GA, family history section, page 721).
