William was born in 1495 in Leicestershire, England.  William's father was Sir John Digby and his mother was Catherine Griffen.  His paternal grandparents were Everard Digby and Jacquetta Ellis; his maternal grandparents were Lord Nicholas Griffen and Catherine Curzon.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 34 in 1529.
