John, known as Of Gaunt, was born in March 1340 in Abbaye De St Bavon, Ghent, Flandre-Orientale, Belgium.  Of Gaunt's father was Edward III (King Of England) and his mother was Philippa (Queen Of England).  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 57 on February 3rd, 1398 in Leicester Castle, Leicester, Leicestershire, England.  His burial was on March 15th, 1398 in St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Middlesex, England.
