William was born in 1657.  William's father was William Newby and his mother was Isabell Turner.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph Newby and Mary Hinchley.  He had five brothers and a sister, named John, Gabriel, Thomas, Nathan, Edward and Dorothy.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
