  • Sir Henry Jones of Ambermarlais and Castell Newydd (New Catle Emlyn), Knight of War, married First Elisabeth daughter (by Mary his wife of Sir Thomas Gamage, Knight, Lord if Coetty, Glamorgan, by his wife, Margaret, daughter of Sir John St. John of Bletso, KB) of Mathew Herbert of Cogun Pill, 1596. son and coheir of Sir George Herbert, Lord of Albertawi (Swansea) (by Elizabeth Berkeley daughter and Heiress of Sir Thomas Berkeley, of Beverstion Castle co Glouester, derived from Thomas, third Lord Berkeley of Berkeley Castle co. Glousester- her mother was the Hon Eliizabeth Nevil, daughter to Sir Edward Nevil, Lord of Albergravenny and his wife the Lady Elizabeth Beauchamp, daughter of Richard, Earl of Worcester. Salin at Meaux, France ad 1422. Heir to his maternal grandfather, Sir Marthew Cardoe, Lord Swanea and elder brother to that eminet statesman and Soldier William Herbert, Earl of Pembroke, ancester to the noble houses of Pembroke and Caermarvon; by this lady Sir Henry Jones had issue, a son and heir Thomas Jones afterwards Knight.
    
    Sir Henry Jones marriage after first wife death to Lady Elinor, widow of Sir Roger Vychan of Porthaml co Brecon and daughter of Henry Somerset and 2nd Earl of Wrocaster (who died 1549) by Elizabeth his wife, daughter of Sir Anthony Brown, Knight. By this lady, who died before her husband, Sir Henry had no issue. He resided with her at Portamd l for some years; He married thirdlly (3) Elizabeth or Jan daughter of Sir John Salsri of Lleweni, Chancellor and Chamberlain of Denhighshire, and M.P. for the county, Temp, Henry VIII, Edward VI and Queen Mary. But by this lady, who was widow of John Salsbri, of Rug, he had no issue.
    His elder and only son and heir was Knighted. Sir Thomas Jones of Abermarlais.
