David Stone

David was born in 1540 in Great Bromley, Essex, England. David's father was Simon Stone and his mother was Agnes Speed Clarke. His paternal grandparents were David Stone and Elizabeth ?; his maternal grandfather was William Clarke. He was an only child. He died at the age of 85 on April 27th, 1625 in Great Bromley, Essex, England.

- Married first Elizabeth HEWITT (d. about 1582), married second about 1584 Ursula. David had eleven children baptized at Great Bromley, including the following sons.
  John STONE (bap. 1579, Great Bromley, Essex). Son of David and Elizabeth. No documentary evidence has been found that he is the same person as John STONE of Hartford, CT.
  Dea. Simon STONE of Watertown, MA (ancestor of Notable Cousins Susan B. ANTHONY, Calvin COOLIDGE, Robert H. GODDARD, Elias HOWE, and Harlan Fiske STONE), son of David and Ursula.
