Isabel was born in 1173 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Isabel's father was Richard (Strongbow) de Clare and her mother was Princess Eve (Aoife) of Leinster Macmurrough.  Her maternal grandparents were Diarmait Macmurchada and Mor (Ua Tuathail) (ingen Muirchertaig) O'toole.  She was an only child.  She died in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Her burial was in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England.
