Hugh was born on August 23rd, 0939 in Paris, Seine, Ile-de-France, France.  Hugh's father was Hugh Magnus Capet and his mother was Hedwige of Saxony.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 57 on October 24th, 0996 in Les Juifs, Chartres, France.  His burial was in St. Denis Basilica, Paris, Ile-de-France, France.
