Etienne was born about 1646 in Mesnieres-en-Bray, Dieppe, Rouen, Normandie.  Etienne's father was Jean Mesny and his mother was Jeanne-Marie Cane.  He was an only child.  He died on September 28th, 1693 in Hotel-Dieu, Quebec, Quebec, Canada.
