Etienne was born in 1625 in La Haye-Descartes, Indre-et-Loire,Touraine, France. Etienne's father was Jacques Hebert and his mother was Marie Juneau.  He had a brother named Antoine.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 45 in 1670 in Port Royal, Acadia, Nova Scotia, Canada.
