Denis was born in 1625 in Martaize, Vienne, France.  Denis' father was Jehan Gaudet and his mother was Marie Daussy.  He had a sister named Marie Francoise.  He was the younger of the two children.  He had a half-sister named Marie Anne.  He died at the age of 84 on October 11th, 1709 in St. Jean Baptiste, Port Royal, Acadia, Nova Scotia, Canada.
