Catherine was born on March 21st, 1694 in Montreal, PQ.  Catherine's father was Francois Cottu and her mother was Louise Lesiege.  Her paternal grandparents were Antoine Cottu (De Lavaltrie) and Marguerite Patou; her maternal grandparents were Pierre Lesiege (dit Lafontaine) and Marguerite Laplace.  She was an only child.
