Simon Lefebvre-Angers de Plainval

Simon was born in 1642 at Saint-Eloi de Tracy le Val in Picardy, France.
His father, Simon, who he was named after, was married to Marie Cousturier about
1630 and they were obviously born around the turn of the century. He had been born
into a family that can be traced back to the 15th century although I do not have nor have
I seen records yet that prove this is so.
Plainval was a small village of some 96 families in Picardie near Montdidier
in France. Lorenzo Angers in his article of 1965 in Memoire de la Societe Canadienne
Francaise suggests that Simon's family owned property in that area.
The Lefebvre families of Plainval and those of Angers were related and the
union of these families is represented on Simon Lefebvre's coat of arms. Both of these
families had an escutcheon that was split horizontally with a blue background and a
silver star. The vertical images showed a winged head of a gold angel in the center
for the Anger line and a gilded rose with stalk and green leaves for the Plainval lines.
There are records that show that Simon's grandfather received a pension of
2500 livres(pounds) in the account registry of 1618 for Louis XIII's household. I don't
know what his name was but his title was "gentleman-ordinaire of the King's chamber".
In 1667 Simon Lefebvre Angers de Plainval married Marie Charlotte de Poitiers.
She was a widow having married the first time to Joseph Hebert in 1660 at Quebec
city. Read the notes on "Sieur de Buisson" for more of her background.
