Recorded July 12, 1662 Deed Bk 1656-1664, p 187-188
Richard is the only recorded child of Henry Awbrey; the above confirms that Susanna was his step daughter (Susanna per pevious e-mail married 2nd Phillip McGuire), her sister Mary md Col. Francis Gouldman, brother of Thomas Gouldman II who was the 2nd husband of Dorothy (North) Awbrey.
In regard to p 357 of Charles Hoppin's "Washington Ancestry"-he is making a lot of false statements. To begin with, it is assumed Henry Awbrey was married before he married Sarah. Secondly, Henry's death is of record. His will is dated Aug 1, 1694. I believe it is recorded in Sept. It follows:

Note that Francis Awbrey is referred to as the youngest son of his deceased brother, James. According to infromation called the Aubrey Family History by Walton L. Aubrey, Henry, James, and John were the sons of Sir William Aubrey of Abercynfrig, Brecknockshire, South Wales. He died 1631 Brecon, South Wales. It reports that he married Elizabeth Johns. I don't have any further info on James. John married Jane (?) and the children I have for him is as follows: Elizabeth, John, Francis, and Sarah. (I don't know if I have made a mistake in connecting Francis to him or there is indeed another Francis-I will have to recheck the records) John died Sept 28, 1692 in Westmoreland Co, VA. The only place I can see where there could have been a Dorothy Awbrey is the child whose gender I don't have (child of Dorothy North and Richard Awbrey) which of course, makes sense with what you are saying. And, if she did stay with relatives, it would have had to be cousins rather than Henry's brothers as both were deceased by the time Richard Awbrey died.
