Robert Sandys

• General Notes
  • The earliest mention of the Sands family was in the thirteenth century and it was located in a district called in ancient times Le Sandes near the town of Burgh-on-Sands in Cumberland, England. The ancient seat of the family was at Rottington Hall (later Rattenby Castle) near the village of St. Bee's, Cumberland.  The Sands family were members of the landed gentry.
