  Pearson family worshiped in the church of St. Oswald in the Parish of Dean. This church still stands.
  
  John Pearson -- probably a relative -- was the Bishop of Chester between 1672 and 1686. A plaque on his tomb refers to him as a great theologian.
  
  John Pearson of Ullock, Parish of Dean, was a church warden and overseer of St. Oswald's by 1641. He made his will in 1649, requesting that his body be buried in the church yard of Dean Parish. As he had paid for the education of his grandson, Christopher Pearson, he requested that Christopher pay 20 shillings to the parish schools rather than receive any part in the estate. He also bequeathed Christoper all his 'husbandry gear'. John Pearson was dead in 1650 when his will was executed.
  
  His mother may have been Jane Pearson, Widow, who died in Dean Parish in 1580. In her will she requested Thomas Pearson occupy her farm and bring up her children 'honestly with meals and cloth until they come to perfect years of age and that he make my son John Pearson aforesaid tenant of said farmhold by the license of the Lord or his Office.' Her other children were Thomas and Elizabeth. This John (our John?) may have also had a brother, Christopher, a weaver in Ullock, who died in 1613. In his will Christopher made bequests to his brothers John and Thomas.
