  • Mobley, Moberly: One who came from Mobberley, Cheshire, England. The village itself was given the name Moberley, which means "a glade with an assembly mound." The suffix, "-ley" , means either "meadow," or "a clearing in the woods" (such as a glade.) Mobe meant "mound of earth, where people assembled."
