Henry I, known as The Fowler, was born in 0876. The Fowler's father was Otto (The Illustrious) and his mother was Hedwige of Carinthia. His paternal grandparents were Ludolph (Duke of Saxony) and Oda; his maternal grandparents were Arnulf of Carinthia (King of Germany) and Oda of Bavaria. He was an only child. He died at the age of 60 in 0936.
