Jacob Carter

Jacob was born about 1714 in Charleston, SC. Jacob's father was Moore Carter and his mother was Jane Kindred. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Carter and Magdalen Moore. He had a brother named Isaac. He was the older of the two children. He died in 1797.

General Notes
- It is not known when Jacob Carter was born nor when he died. He was probably born about 1720 and was listed as head of a household in Charlestown District, St. Bartholomew Parish, SC in the 1790 Census. At that time there was one male over 16, and one female and one slave in the household. As the Colleton County, SC courthouse burned and all the early records were lost, it has not been possible to find any records of wills, deeds, tax lists, etc. to piece together the facts of the family in SC. Most of the records are on that part of the family that migrated to Georgia.
  
  A deed dated August 29, 1809 in Barnwell District, SC and signed by Jacob Carter and his wife, Sarah, conveying 250 acres in Colleton District to George Rizer was found, but it is not known if this is the above Jacob Carter or his son, Jacob Jr.
