Uz's father was Aram . His paternal grandfather was Shem . He had three brothers named Hul, Gether and Mash. Uz is no longer alive.
General Notes
There is still considerable disagreement as to the precise area in which the descendants of Uz settled, and given the somewhat nomadic nature of the Aramaeans (Aram was the father of Uz), this is hardly surprising. Northern Arabia, between Babylon and Edom, seems the most likely area of settlement (Josephus, probably correctly, identifies it as the classical Trachonitis.) (Refs: IDB 4:741. NBD 1306-7.JA l.vi.4.
